50000 chunk of information

In "After the gold rush" -Steve McConell written an interesting thing, "In a mature field, an expert should remember 50000 chunk of information", this can be a basis for learning about a subject, if not 50000,we can start with 100 chunks, like 100 things about PDA, may be this I will try to practice from New year.

Lotus Temple Visit(30-12-2006)

BAHÁ'Í House of worship
This is also know as lotus temple
, because the concept of design is lotus as lotus is is associated with worship in India. (BAHÁ'Í House of worship is also in many otger countries).
BAHÁ'Í is an independent religion.
The common characteristic of the edifuce is it is all nibe sided.
The edifice or central hall, is a big hall with many seats for people to sit and worship(it us basically a huge mediDation hall, no idols or statues). In tge roof we can see 9 sided stars which made of glass(may be) through which we can see the sky.Even inside tge whole buikding, we saw nine sided stars from one wall to another(criss crossing). The e
Edifice is surrounded by 9 large pools of water, which acts as natural cooling.
The whole area is lush green with plants and tree, and calm and quiet.

Akshardam Visit

Akshardam Visit ( 28-12-2006) Akshardam Temple in New Delhi is same as that in Gujarat. It is in a huge area (100 acres). In the Main Shrine lies a huge statue of Bhagwan Swaminarayan with his disciples , born in 1800.. believed to be a reincarnation of God, and also statues of other Gods (Shiva Parvati, Sita –Ram ). The inside is neat and beautiful, lush gardens, beautiful structure. Some Interesting things: 1.At the base of the main shrine, there are hundreds of elephant’s statues, the concept is animals (particularly elephant and humans), and it is also have some stories from Panchatantra, which are interesting. 2.There is Very big “Yagna Kundalam”, which is unique and I have not seen one, this is also the place where they have the musical fountain. 3.There are some shows, one movie, the life of NeelanKanth, child hood of Swaminarayan, well taken (shown in IMAX big screens), and there is another show using series of robotic toys.

Amritsar Visit

Amritsar Visit I, balan, Radhika, shruthi and shravan started by Chattisgarh Express. On 26-12-2006.The train supposed to start at 8.40Pm is delayed by a 1.5 hrs and we were shivering in the platform. We reached only by 11:00 am on 27th.We checked into Grand hotel and hired a car and left to Golden temple. We ate at Bhawagan Daba (The parrathas, Kulchas an subjis were very good) we reached Golden temple around 1.30Golden TempleWe are not allowed to wear chappals or shows, so we desisted them in the boot stalls (no charges), also we were supposed to cover our heads inside the Temple, we bought 5 orange color cloth and covered our heads. At the entry there is a small pit with water, were we hv to wash our feet.Standing at the gates were two Persons with spears.Unlike Taj Mahal there is no securityChecks. When entered we can see the Majestic Golden temple at the middle of a big pond. The place is serene. We walked around the corridor, they have mats, walking on the floor is chilling. Taking pictures here and there and enjoying the beautiful, big fishes in the pond.At the two sides of the Golden temple, at the top of towers in the gates there are two big clocks, one in regular numbers(what do we call them!) and other in Punjabi(I supposeNumeral. Then we stood in a queue, which is on a small bridge or path to reach the temple in the center of the pond, the queue took around 45 minutesInside also it was good, surprisingly the priest gave a "Prasadham" packet to my brother, it is wrapped inna orange cloth, inside we also climbed one storey, and able to watch the surroundings from the windows. When we come out they gave sweet prasadham to all.>From there we rushed to Jallin walah bagh at 3:30 pm. Jallianwala Bagh From golden temple we rushed to Jallianwala Bagh, it is a 2 minute walk. The place has been now preserved, with gardens and a big monument built in memory of all those innocent people lost their lives. The building with bullet marks and the well in which people jumped to escape the bullets is also preserved. The scene brought back my visit to war cemetery at Kanchanapuri(Thailand) Wagha Border From there we rushed to Wagha Border, by the time we reached (4.45 PM) the parade has already started, it is about 45minutes drive from Golden temple. We saw a huge crowd there, we saw the Retreat ceremony, of both Pakistan and Indian flags are unhoisted and brought to the BSF control room, there was huge slogans and shout like "Bharath Mata Ki Jai" and we saw huge boards like "Welcome to India". Shuthi clicked a Photo with the BSF jawan. We saw the electric fence at the border. There were shouts, from both sides. (Pakistan and India), this is unique experience. From there we reached hotel and Caught Golden Temple Mail at 9.40 PM and reached Delhi on 28th Morning.

After seeing Taj!

As they usuaLly say, now I belong to the category of people who hv seen the Taj Mahal. As most of us went felt there is some peacefullness to that place.Taj is absolutely magneficient.Somewhere the aesthetic, engineering has blended you can say.Few places and things are beyond expression and Taj Mahal is one of them.
Engineering-the symmetry of the monument, the doom!the look alike fur pillars, the drains at the top,the inscriptions...
Aesthetic-you hv to see to feel and enjoy, no photograph can capture.
The calm yamuna at the back, add to the beauty of the Taj.
No wonder it took so many years(22) to complete...how much planning would have been done, co-ordination, teams, execution...study of the Taj can make many people claim their Doctorate, then how will we honour , Shahjahan and his team?

What I have been Doing this Week!

As anticipated, i was not able to blog during the week days, the question here is one of principle(whether i can blog from office) and i am feeling comfortable todo so, so i can do only from brosing center, but since i have found one intersting way fo blooging thru mail, may be i can use my Pocket PC to blog hereafter. That said, I have gone thru few amazing Sites this week, one which impressed me is, http://www.chacha.com/ - This Site offers an interactive search , meaning a person sits and do the filtering of your search, an excellent idea, I tried for a sequence diagram of UML and got pretty good results, but still not very sure, how much it can offer value in other kind of search, we are so much used to Googlke now, that now it has become an habit and we have to break the habit to try some other search engines. What this place will be i can forsee
  1. Repository of important article
  2. Link to my Genealogy
  3. A platform to post my exploration of new technology

First Blog Thru mail

This is Amazing , the integration of different
technology, blog thru mail, from mobile and we have
owait and watch what else going to come!
