Google Transliterate sight!

http://www.google.com/transliterate/indic/Tamil எங்கு செல்கிறது கூகிள் , யார் இவர்கள், எங்கிருந்து குதித்தார்கள். (Where is google heading, Who are these people and from where they have come!) In Die hard 4, a hacker comments about the villians (Computer Geek/Hacker) that he just came out of nowhere! Google people are like dropping from nowhere!

Tare Zameen Par

What a movie it is emotionally packed. Also reminds us about the responsibility of the individual to treat the kids equally and not to compare one kids with other ("Every children is special"). Aamir also talks about kids should be allowed to follow their dreams and parents should not impose their dreams. Sometimes i think this is difficult though.Do the child really knows-what he/She wants? Aamir also emphasis the confidence that should be given, when they need it or when they are in trouble. This is true not only for kids. and many more...watch it.

Shocked!Photos vapourised! A digital lesson learnt.

Shocked!I have been an regular user of splashblog,www.splashblog.com,since i am having a windows mobile phone. After transferred to a different place and did not activated my gprs, I did not use splash blog for quite some time.Suddenly today morning i came to upload some photo and shocked to see the blog is not there and after search i found the company and site is closed. Now all my photos are lost!.I have written an appreciation mail to splashblog when i used there service. But now it is horrible to imagine my photos have vapourised. It is a shame for digital companies, since we are using their service for free does not mean , it can be wiped out. This gives a feeling the web is not matured yet and the responsibility of the companies are only ,limited, unlike brick.May be we should create a digital warehouse, to save the data in the web and make the companies responsibility to dump there in case of acquisition or shutting down to safeguard the data, so that the interested parties may pay some amount and retrieve the data. Lessons learnt- Data on web is not safe , Have a back up.

Team Work Works!T20-world cup

What a match!nail biting, thriller. Sherlock holes, Fredrick Forsyth, jeffery archer and everyone in a single day, in 30 minutes time, Twist and turns, see saw.. and many more words. But in the end of the day, it is not only winning all that counts, but the performance as a team. Pakistan also put up a great fight, but that day and this series is a win for Indian teams TEAM WORK. Look at the charge everyone is on, each infusing that to the next guy and it was spread like fire. Dhoni has right said, he has not seen such a dressing room for years. The ups and down of individual was observed by the team and in totality they won, if in one match Yuvraj scored, then in another Gambir scored, but Pathan ,RP,Srisant, Sharma,Utthapa completed equally. At the end of the day, we were not able to associate the win to one guy, but has to give it to the team. That is team work, we should not be able to single out. we can only say the team works and different people may give the credit to different people, this is an indication of the Teams total strength.

Failures should be in curriculum

I have been thinking about writing about failures for quite some time. I am wondering why we were not taught or encouraged to fail in school or college. (Or has it been taught to us indirectly)- No body would recommend there children to fail in any subject and even children are afraid to fail. I remember failing in my classes once I think I got 27 marks in social studies when I was in 4th or 5th standard and I remember a long preparation to disclose this to my parents( right time to deliver so that you will not be thrashed, tough nothing like that happened) This is one of the most important learning we all need in our work or domestic life as we all know we cannot succeed all the time. Thinking back may be we should encourage kids to experiment and fail, that way they will try to venture in new domains. And even if they fail in the subjects, we should teach to cope up rather than admonishing. I also think there may be some statistical evidence that people who have failed in their schools and college may have the courage to take risk and do well in their profession. They have better experience in failing and learning than the person who has scored good marks always. List of personalities who have failed..Edison, Lincoln.. I think we can list all the great people in the top, each would have failed many times. I think that’s what experience is all about, it does not mean an experience person will not fail, but he knows it is inevitable and how to cope with that. Good judgment comes from experience and experience comes from bad judgment.

Harry Potter and the Indian Connection

Like many i was also Harryed. It is a great book especially for kids and those enjoy magic. I feel there is lot of Indian Connection-few.. The Deathky Hallows(The three Brothers-questioned by Death) - In Mahabharath Pandavas were questioned by Yama(The Hindu God of Death). The Silver Doe- Reminds me of Maricha(In Ramayana) though in Ramayana the deeer form-Maricha tricks the Heros. And Nagini(Ofcourse we all know about Nagas ,in many of the Indian Stories). Least of all - people can remember Sridevi's Nagina.

Die Hard - Federer vs Nadal

"You don hv any idea what i am capable off" - this is the dialogue by the Villain in Die hard 4.0. It seems like that was the message Nadal was conveying to Fed. on the Wimbledon finals. Though Nadal is not the villain, his message was very clear- grass is not my favourite but i will make you "Cry".. thats what exactly he did to Fed. made him cry(Huge relief for Fed, the match is over.). Nadal unnerved Fed., the guy who is so cool, at one point was so unnerved he uttered to the Chair Umpire " How in this World this point is in?" (The Challenge point which Nadal got on his favour). Rest apart - what a match... both of them at their best, except for the last game... the match was evenly poised.. at many times it was like Nadal is Winning. There is no meaning of Unforced errors in this match, the % for both players showed 45 , 46... but what is "unforced"..both of them were forcing the other player... though it looked like a open court... unless the ball is dead, no one is sure.you play a drop the other guy comes from the base line and hots a winner...so you are forced to think extreme and play extreme to win a single point. Great rivalry and we are going to see more... if Roger is not so exhausted.. Nadal is ready. Comaring with Die Hard if Fedex almost got hit by MIG.

Calcutta

After a fortnight in Calcutta- Calcutta is the link to know the evolution of cities in India. Unlike its reputation Calcutta is neat only. Its is like a city which has been planned and shrunk, but in retrospect, this is how city could have been planned 100 years back. I think Calcutta has the wide variety of transports: rickshaw, auto, taxi, buses, metro train and the unique Tram. We find sweet shops at every few yards. The weather is like Chennai.

World cup semifinals-2007

May be Australia is like the character 'vali', when someone plays against them , half of the opponents power goes to them. What a pathetic match for South Africa, then that's cricket, and unpredictable. But how Australia is maintaining this consistency, extraordinary team work, practice.Anyone in discipline can learn from them, its not a game, its a profession and they are doing there job flawlessly. Can the Lankans beat them....even then, what the heck? They have won all the matches in the world cup, the true champions

Swiss army knife

Today at around 10:00 p.m., the cooler stopped working, analyzing the reason , simple, the wires has come out of the plug(is it the right term, what u call the plastic with two pins , in each we connect one wire). Now I have to open the 'plug' to fix the wire, for that I need a small star screw driver, I had one,but left in chennai two days ago, rightly remembered the all purpose Swiss knife-My cousin, uma, after her trip to from Switzerland gave me one
(doubtfully opened it for the first time).Surprisingly, one knife's side helped me as a screw driver, within minutes the cooler is running!
Swiss knife is handy and great design!

Paruthi veeran- "padaipuu"

Amir can retire-this is what I hv been telling to people after seeing the movie.
This comment is from the fact that, for a creative person, if he has produced one best piece of art, he feels fulfillment. Amir may differ in this, he may have something better(i am eagerly waiting!).
Perseverance, hardwork, creativity...the director has all.
The director has really lived the character, simple things like:
Scene: when the girl falls into the well, the boys shouts for help first time, then the second time-his reaction and dilemma, 'whether to wait' or jump to save, he half finishes the words and jumps.
The mixing of comedy at the critical and serious places(Editor -kudos!)
The comedian is brilliant and natural,
'his comments to the policeman after loosing the money in cards'
Though the songs are not going to be evergreen, they Are merged in to the movie.
There is a sense of vulgarity in speech and picture, but that is natural and appropriate, removing them will give a big dent.
Of course there are some cinematic scenes, like the fight sequence (could hv been better)
The crew: to each one of them this is great team effort and there is lot to learn from the project, one misstep and the commercial aspect would hv been at risk. A well balanced movie of commercialization and art.
This movie will not get an Oscars: but people like Amir don't need one, they already have something more in them.
Climax not suitable for children and soft minded people.

Podcasting workshop at Delhi

Kiruba started of well, but some how it did not go great. He started saying we would hv this like an unConference.I think it would hv been better if it is like a structured program.I strongly doubt, the people who were not sure about podcasting, would still be Wondering what it is. For me , I learnt few sites, the sound editing software name. To sum it up, nothing much take away but podcasting workshop like this shld be conducted to popularise the idea.

This is not the time to mourn, but to motivate; The Slogan is "Bring us the World Cup!"

20 men are looking at 1 billion for motivatation; they are like kids who have failed in their first test and anxiously looking at their parents.

This is not the time to reprimand, but to absorb and prepare for the next big one.

We have seen them thrashing the best teams, we have seen them on come back!

This is a small test for a big game, that’s why we have league matches for initial rounds, to know the weakness and prepare.

If our state of mind is bad, think about them, they are far away in a different soil and they need all our support.

This is the time to support,  back them up and push them forward to the final. Let the World know.  We know ‘Tigers” always get the target.

Just say, “ Team India we are waiting, Bring us the World Cup!”

Special metro traiin ride (Metro Token protocol..Swipe and drop)

On 14-3-07, as part of the delhi darshan, after the
parliament visit , I ,appa,amma,nana mama,
mami, rupa, aiswarya, setha boarded the Metro train at
Central secratriat upto Rajiv chowk.
Father was speculating how the train token works
(which we have to swipe in the ticket machine while
entering and should drop while coming out.)
He was saying if we use the same token next day,it
will work, etc..
All of us got down at Rajiv chowk
And as we wanted only to visit, only I went out and
bought another set of tokens for all of us.
I preserved the old tokens separately
We boarded at Rajiv chowk and got down at central
secratariat.
When we walked to ticket counter and tried to insert
the token, it beeped-and displyed, invalid token, then
beep ,beep, beep for all others, the security guard,
asked us to move to one side and collected the tokens
and tried.. And I explained, he said we hv to pay
Rs.70/.. Fine and then he asked to talK to his
supervisor. I went and explained to him, then he
scanned the tokens in
The system and told me we have not swiped so it is not
accepting here.
Then he let us out...
So the Metro Token protocol..Swipe and drop

The mobile market and were it is heading

The convergence is already happened, with the announcement of Apples, iPhone it has come a full circle.Whether iPhone is going to be a hit or not does not matter, the very point that apple ha entered into the fray ha going to push the mobile market forward in the right direction(considering the fact , they failed with Newton 10-15 years ago and re-entering means they would hv done their research).
Now the UI, features, and market will definitely move faster ad exponentially.
Now the key players are not, the OS or device manufactures like, windows, symbian,HTC,apple, imate but the service providers.
They have a big role to play now taking these converged devices further.
1.The coverage: more area, like rural and semi urban.
2.Seamless connectivity with high speed and low latency.
3.Better services both data and voices - 3g.
4.Ofcource cheaper rates, this will automatically happen as the subscriber base increases.

With web 2.0 already happening, with the help of service providers there is definitely going to be a new mobile revolution.

Holi! Wah- What a Festival!

>From the inside of my room, I can hear the big shouts, screams, I see from terrace and the corners are manned with guns, people dare to cross.
Yes manned by kids with color guns, and shouts I hear is of "Holi..' with the drum beats making me dance.
Wah! "Holi.." - the festival of color.
Happy holi!

Delhi Darshan

Reached "Rail bhawan'- (near india gate, rashra bhathi Bhawan) from kalkaji.
Metro ride
Metro station name 'Central secratariat' and to re ch 'chandini chawk' take train to 'Vishwa vidyalaya'
(Rs.9) Metro train is good, as good as any othermetros(singapore, bangkok),Auto door opening and closing,hv announcement for safety, next stations, changing lines- both in english and hindi, inside the train there are diagrams ,of the station routes, lcd displays, we hv clear glass to view outside(but this is an under ground route!, so u can see only the dark tunnel),the train is clean,
In 'rajiv chowk' huge crowd got in, so the 'metro' is running in profit!
No pawn chewing, no smoking,
Gurudwara
Walk outside the station is the 'Sisganj Saheb' gurudwara- place of martyrdom of Guru Teg bhahudur sing
-visited had prasadam.
Haldirams
Near the station and near the gurudwara., good thali meal.
Jamma masjid
Took a cycle rickshaw, only 5 minutes from haldirams,
Inside it is very good.
Especially, the view from the 'minar' which is 150ft, is Wow!wow!
View of red fort from there made me go to red fort nex(was not in my plan), inside the masjid there is a big place where they, spread the corns, for the pigieons , which flocks In to eat.
When we see from the top of the minar, can see the exact planning, of the jamma masjId, the front portions, which were supposed to be the fountains, and the grounds are very well planned.
Red fort(was the seat of Indian power)
Built by Shahjahan, this is huge, and stands sturdy, the view itselfs epitomise strength.
This kind of construction 300 -400 yrs back is amazing. As in many forts, there is a big 'pit' surronding the fort(may they had waters in this, some kind of defence system so that no one can enter).
Swantantra sangama sangrahalaya, the museum on Indian independence is a must see.
There is also the war musuem displaying arms,rifles,swords,shields...
At the middle there is 'Diwan-I-Am' the place the emperor gives the public audience , a huge marble platform, facing the big garden.
AT the back there are 3 - 4 halls, supposed to be very good painted, carved and decorated, but now it has become very old,in one of these halls, is the place where the famous "peacock throne" was there.
There is also the moti masjid, which aurangezeb built .

Dilli Haat

Dilli Haat has handicraft stalls from different states of India, the first thing that came to my mindis tge similarity of "Night Bazar" in Bangkok.
There are stalls for "Hyderabad pearls","Paschima shawls", "pondichery Handicrafts".... I am not sure if you want some thing from some state, you can find here, meaning if some one asks me where can I get "Tanjore Dolls", I can't say go to Dilli hat you will find...
Its attempt to bring many states handicrafts, but I won't give it 100%, I can say 50%
I had tea and dosa at "tamilnadu tourism" restaurant<you can find restaurantsrom many states>
And also excellent "organic Masala tea"(wow I am sipping it..very very good) from "Navdanya" organic shop.
I saw 'bioscope' , read tarrot cards.

Stupid Questions

My Cousin sent me this mail, Very Interesting! Why is it that people say they "slept like a baby" when babies wake up everytwo hours? If a deaf person has to go to court, is it still called a hearing? Why do we press harder on a remote control when we know the batteries are flat? Why do banks charge a fee on "insufficient funds" when they know there isnot enough? Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars, butcheck when you say the paint is wet? Why do they use sterilized needles for death by lethal injection? Why doesn't Tarzan have a beard? Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest, but ducks when you throw arevolver at him? Why do Kamikaze pilots wear helmets? Whose idea was it to put an "S" in the word "lisp"? What is the speed of darkness? Are there specially reserved parking spaces for "normal" people at theSpecial Olympics? If the temperature is zero outside today and it's going to be twice as coldtomorrow, how cold will it be? If it's true that we are here to help others, what are the others doinghere? Do married people live longer than single ones or does it only seem longer? Do you cry under water? How is it that we put man on the moon before we figured out it would be agood idea to put wheels on luggage? Why do people pay to go up tall buildings and then put money in binocularsto look at things on the ground? Did you ever stop and wonder...... Who was the first person to look at a cow and say, "I think I'll squeezethese pink dangly things here, and drink whatever comes out?" Who was the first person to say, "See that chicken there... I'm gonna eatthe next thing that comes outta its bum." Why do toasters always have a setting so high that could burn the toast to ahorrible crisp, which no decent human being would eat?Why is there a light in the fridge and not in the freezer? Why do people point to their wrist when asking for the time, but don't pointto their bum when they ask where the bathroom is?Why does your Obstetrician, Gynaecologist leave the room when you getundressed if they are going to look up there anyway? Why does Goofy stand erect while Pluto remains on all fours? They're bothdogs! Can blind people see their dreams? Do they dream?? If quizzes are quizzical, what are tests? (This one kills me!!!!!) If corn oil is made from corn, and vegetable oil is made from vegetables, then what is baby oil made from? If electricity comes from electrons, does morality come from morons? Why do the Alphabet song and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star have the sametune? Stop singing and read on . . . . . . . .Do illiterate people get the full effect of Alphabet Soup? Did you ever notice that when you blow in a dog's face, he gets mad at you,but when you take him on a car ride, he sticks his head out the window? Does pushing the elevator button more than once make it arrive any faster?

Public Toliets in Delhi

Read in Hindu, today that , High Court has ordered Municipal Corporation to keep the toilets Clean. Surprisingly, as i walking to the Internet cafe, found a new look for a Public Toilet on the way. Swift Action! if they can maintain this spirit, it will be great.

Email as Access point!

After a quite long time trying to use my mobile phone to blog, this addresses to some extent my , accesS point concept

Access point For Blogging

A PC cannot be access point for a blog,as this may delay the blogging, as we dont carry them always and also depends upon your connectivity to NET. So the ideal access point can be a mobile phone, as more and moremobile phones comes more features, we can see realtime blogging happening, immdlty when an event happens or a thought appears.
